Silver Duke of Edinburgh Expedition

Did you know that the Air Training Corps is one of the largest providers of the Duke of Edinburgh awards and 1483 aim to maintain the high standards of the organisation within our own squadron.

The Silver Duke of Edinburgh requires the candidates to plan, train for and complete a 3 day and 2 night hike. The team should be self sufficient throughout the expedition carrying everything they need for the duration. The weather was surprisingly hot for mid-April which brought challenges of it’s own, hiking long distances through the

mid day sun carrying a heavy pack

meant the teams had to drink plenty

of fluids and keep the team moral

high.

However the team successfully

completed the expedition and on a

high after their success sang most

of the way home in the minibus.
