Exercise Unity One

A weekend packed full of activities open to the entire squadron, that was the concept behind this inaugural event that has been designated Exercise Unity One and what an action packed weekend it was too. Three goals defined the direction for the weekend:

1. Build squadron team spirit and moral with activities open to all cadets.

2. Activities designed to develop cadets capabilities in line with the aims of the ATC.

3. To have fun.

Cadets were split into four flights and rotated around the various activities some of which were scored for their performance. Activities included Mountain Biking; Obstacle Course; Shooting; Model glider building and flying; Leadership exercises; a Navigation exercise; an ATC and an RAF Quiz and a cooking competition which had to be prepared with only stoves and cooking utensils that would be carried on an expedition.

On Saturday evening the exhausted cadets were treated to a gourmet barbeque expertly prepared by civilian committee member Mrs Kalaitzis and cooked by the commanding officer and other staff.

At the final parade all cadets received a certificate of attendance, the top flight (pictured top left, Sgt Allgood, Cdt Ball, Cdt Davies and Cdt Head) were awarded their winners certificates and the following special awards were given to the cadets pictured top right:
