Welcome to the web site of 1483 (Brentwood) Squadron.  Hopefully you will find most, if not all of the information you are seeking whether that is just to see what we are about, or possibly to find out more about joining us either as a Cadet or as an Adult Staff volunteer.

The Squadron was officially formed on the 28th of June 1941 and our headquarters were opened on the 20th of May 1989 by Vice Lord Lieutenant of Essex, Captain R. P. Laurie. Since then it has seen numerous young people pass through the doors and enjoy the experiences that the Air Training Corps (Air Cadets) has to offer. The unit is staffed by adult volunteers from a variety of backgrounds, some ex-cadets, who give up their spare time to offer those opportunities to the Cadets.

As an organisation we have much to offer including BTEC qualifications in Aviation Studies and Public Services, Duke of Edinburgh Award, Flying, Gliding, Target Shooting, Mountain Biking, Canoeing, Kayaking, Expeditions, Camps at RAF bases and other locations, Overseas camps/expeditions, Sports competitions and much more.   The ATC motto is Venture Adventure.

We invite new recruits to register their interest with us and to join our waiting list ready for our next intake.  Experience has proven that having new cadets join us in groups at set times provides the best start as they venture into the organisation.  To join the ATC as a cadet you need to be aged between 13 and 17 years although you are welcome to add your details to our waiting list before reaching that age.

If you're an adult aged over 20 you can volunteer to join us either as a non uniform member of staff (Civilian Instructor) or maybe you would like to follow the uniform route! There is no need for military experience or any form of previous training - we'll take care of that. We're just looking for suitable, enthusiastic individuals to help our cadets get the most from their time with us.

I hope you enjoy looking at our web site and learn a bit more about 1483 (Brentwood).

Regards,

David Webb
